Blasi unstoppable on Tour des Pyrénées Queen Stage

Paula Blasi (UAE Team ADQ) secured a stunning solo victory on the Queen Stage of the 2026 Tour Féminin International des Pyrénées. She attacked alone and held off all chasers to win Saturday's stage 2.

Almost two minutes later, her teammate Dominika Wlodarczyk (UAE Team ADQ) won the sprint from a five-rider chase group to seal a one-two for the team. Emily Dixon (CANYON//SRAM Generation) took third place on the day, 1:59 down.

The result puts the UAE Team ADQ duo in a commanding position in the general classification with just one stage remaining.

Saturday's stage 2 was the race's designated Queen Stage, a mountainous test designed to shake up the general classification. Paula Blasi was in a class of her own, establishing a commanding solo lead from a long-range attack and entering the final 3 km with an advantage of over 1:45.

Behind her, a chase group of five formed, including her teammate Wlodarczyk, Dixon, Ema Comte (Cofidis Women Team), Juliette Berthet (FDJ United-SUEZ), and Clémence Latimier (Ma Petite Entreprise). Despite their efforts, they were unable to make any significant inroads into Blasi's substantial lead as she powered towards the finish.

Blasi crossed the line with ample time to celebrate her dominant victory. The battle for the podium places heated up behind, with Comte leading the chase group into the final few hundred metres before Wlodarczyk came around to take second place, completing a perfect day for her team.

Analysis

  • With Paula Blasi up the road, Dominika Wlodarczyk could sit in the chase group, conserving energy before easily winning the sprint for second. It was a tactical masterclass from UAE Team ADQ.
  • The result completely reshapes the general classification. The UAE Team ADQ duo now holds the top two spots, putting them in a strong position heading into the final stage.
  • The chase was a race for minor placings. Riders like Emily Dixon and Ema Comte animated the finish but were powerless against the numerical and tactical superiority of the UAE Team ADQ pairing.
  • Ema Comte's decision to lead out the sprint was a gamble that didn't pay off, leaving her exposed to Wlodarczyk, who had enjoyed a protected ride to the finish.
