Gruel sprints to victory on Route d'Occitanie stage 1

Thibaud Gruel (Groupama-FDJ United) has won the opening stage of the 2026 Route d'Occitanie, taking victory in a bunch sprint.

The Frenchman proved fastest in the dash to the line, holding off Madis Mihkels (EF Education-EasyPost) and Axel Zingle (Team Visma | Lease a Bike), who finished second and third respectively.
