Ivanov attacks his teammate for solo win on Gyeongnam stage 4

Timofei Ivanov (Wheeltop Rotor Chengdu Team) claimed victory with a powerful solo attack in the final kilometres of Friday's hilly stage 4 of the Tour de Gyeongnam 2026. Ivanov attacked his own breakaway companion and teammate with 4 km to go.

He held off a late charge from Jaebin Yun (Roojai Insurance Winspace), who crossed the line 22 seconds later for second place. Andrei Stepanov (Wheeltop Rotor Chengdu Team), who had been with Ivanov in the final move, held on to take third place at 29 seconds, securing two podium spots for the team.

The fourth stage, contested on the scenic and undulating coastal roads of Namhae-gun, was animated from the early kilometres. An audacious early move saw five riders from the Roojai Insurance Winspace team form a breakaway, signalling the squad's aggressive intentions.

As the race progressed, pressure from the peloton and the challenging terrain caused the front group to shift. In the final phase, a select group emerged, dominated by two Wheeltop Rotor Chengdu Team riders: Timofei Ivanov and Andrei Stepanov.

Working together, the pair established a gap over the chasers heading into the finale. With just 4 km remaining, Ivanov chose his moment on a slight incline, launching a powerful acceleration that immediately distanced Stepanov and powered him to a solo victory.
